Franklin Cowboys Youth Football and Cheerleading is a community-based program, which provides a framework in which tackle football and cheerleading is offered and the ideals of good sportsmanship and fair play is stressed and taught. It was originally begun by the Franklin Optimist Club over 35 years ago as a project dedicated to the positive development of the youth in Franklin. Through youth football and cheerleading, our coaches serve as positive role models while instilling a sense of pride and accomplishment into our players and cheerleaders. We stress discipline, teamwork, hard work, dedication and concentration as fundamental elements to a successful season and a successful life. Emphasis is also placed on education, with players and cheerleaders having to maintain a "C" average in school to remain eligible to play. Our coaches believe that football and cheerleading provides "life lessons" that will help young men and women achieve their personal best and gain the confidence needed to succeed in the adult world. We provide a drug-free environment in which kids can flourish. Many of the young men who have been involved with this program have gone on to play high school, college and even professional football. The most notable of these individuals is late Freddie Lane, Jr. of the Carolina Panthers and Troy Fleming, who played for the Tennessee Titans. In 2007, the Cowboys registered 364 football players, 85 cheerleaders and we sponsored 19 football teams and 11 cheer squads. We are a member of the Tennessee Youth Football Alliance, better known as TYFA, who's membership now stands at 21 communities, sponsoring 215 teams, for children between the ages of 5-14 from the Middle Tennessee area. Follow this link to learn more about TYFA. Our organization is governed by a Board of Directors, who is responsible for administering the rules and regulations of our community, in accordance with TYFA. We have a President, Vice-President of Finance, Vice-President of Operations and Vice-President of Cheerleading. Also serving our association is a Secretary, as well as Concessions Manager and Division Athletic Directors. You can see a full overview of the BOARD of DIRECTORS and COACHES by clicking on the link. All of the people who serve on our Board or coach our teams and squads, are volunteers. Even though, they are volunteering, all coaches, who actively instruct practices or coach games, are required to be nationally certified by the National Youth Sports Coaches Association (NYSCA) and agree to the COACHES CODE of CONDUCT. Our home field is located on the west side of the Jim Warren Park complex, known as COWBOYS COMPLEX, and in 2006 our 2 newest fields were completed. They are located at the site of the old RODEO ARENA, within the same complex. Thank you for stopping by and visiting our site.
